Environments

Environments let you navigate between multiple BC instances — for example PROD, TEST, and DEV — without changing your settings each time.

Setting up environments

  1. Open Options → Connection Each environment has its own Base URL and Company Name. The default environment is used for all navigation unless overridden.
  2. Add an environment Click Add Environment, give it a name (e.g. "TEST"), and enter the Base URL and Company Name for that BC instance.
  3. Switch environments in the popup Use !ENV PREFIX value to navigate using a named environment for a single navigation, e.g. !TEST SO 1234.
Enable Use active environment in Options → Connection to automatically detect the active environment based on your current BC tab URL.

All plans (Trial, Free, Pro) support multiple environments. The !ENV syntax and auto-detection work the same across all plans.

The default environment is license-bound and cannot be changed while a license is active. To change it, deactivate your license first. Additional environments must belong to the same registered domain as your license binding.

Admin Config Sync Pro

Admins can push a central configuration — environments, company name, and prefix mappings — to all Pro installations in their organization. Employees load it with one click.

Setup (Admin)

  1. Activate a Pro license Admin Config Sync requires a Pro license. After activation, the Admin Config Sync section appears in Options → License.
  2. Generate an admin token Click Generate Token. Copy the token immediately — it is shown only once. Store it securely (e.g. your password manager). The token is required to push configuration updates.
  3. Enter the token and push Paste the token in the Admin Token field and click Save Token. Configure your environments, company name, and prefix mappings, then click Push to all users.
The same admin token works on any device with the same Pro license key. You do not need to generate a new token per device.

Loading defaults (Employees)

  1. Open Options → Connection A "Load Company Defaults" banner appears at the top if your admin has pushed a configuration.
  2. Click "Load Company Defaults" Environments and prefix mappings are replaced with the admin configuration. Your personal overrides (if any) are preserved unless you confirm the replacement.

Prefix mappingsReplaced only if user has not locally modified them.

License & Activation

Plan overview

PlanPriceActivationsUse
Trial Free, 14 days All features. Starts automatically on installation. No license key needed.
Free €0 Up to 5 All features. Personal & non-commercial only. Requires license key after trial.
Pro From €89/year Unlimited All features + Admin Config Sync. Commercial use permitted.

Free and Pro have identical navigation features. The difference is activation count, permitted use, and Admin Config Sync (Pro only).

Activating a license

  1. Set your Base URL first Go to Options → Connection and enter your BC Base URL. The license is bound to your BC tenant URL on first activation — test before activation!
  2. Open the License tab Go to Options → License, paste your license key and click Activate.
  3. Confirm the tenant binding A confirmation dialog shows the tenant URL that will be permanently bound to your key. Verify it is correct and click Confirm.
Tenant binding is permanent. The first activation locks the license to your BC tenant (e.g. yourcompany.com). Subsequent activations on any device at the same tenant work without issue. Activating with a different tenant URL will be blocked.

Getting a Free license

After the trial expires, get a free license key at bcnavigator.app/pro (€0). Activate it in Options → License. Free licenses allow up to 5 activations and are for personal, non-commercial use.

Upgrading to Pro

Purchase a Pro license at bcnavigator.app/pro, then go to Options → License and enter your Pro key. The old key is automatically deactivated — no manual step required.

Multi-device use

One Pro license covers all employees at your BC tenant — activate on as many devices as needed using the same key. Free licenses are limited to 5 total activations across all devices.

Troubleshooting

ProblemCauseFix
"Tenant mismatch" on activation The license key is already bound to a different tenant URL. The error message shows the bound URL. If it is wrong (e.g. activated with a test instance), contact support@bcnavigator.app to correct the binding.
"Activation limit reached" The Free license has a 5-device limit and all activations are used. Upgrade to Pro (higher activation limit) at bcnavigator.app/pro.
Extension opens BC but lands on wrong page Base URL missing trailing slash, or Company Name is incorrect. In Options → Connection: Base URL must end with /. Company Name must match exactly (case-sensitive) as shown in the BC URL.
Extension locked after trial ended 14-day trial expired with no license activated. Activate a Free ($0) or Pro license in Options → License. Get a Free license at bcnavigator.app/pro. All features continue to work after activation.
Admin token is lost Regenerating requires the current token. If it is still stored in the extension (visible in Options → License), regeneration works automatically. If the token is still visible in the extension: click Generate New Token — the extension sends the current token automatically and issues a new one. If the token is truly gone (storage cleared, Chrome account lost): contact support@bcnavigator.app for manual reset.
Alt+W shortcut does not work Another extension or system shortcut is using Alt+W. Go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts (or edge://extensions/shortcuts) and change the BC Navigator shortcut.
Extension cannot open BC page (CSP error) Your BC instance blocks navigation from extension contexts via Content Security Policy. Enable Open in new tab in Options → Connection. BC opens as a regular tab instead of from the popup context.

Still stuck? Email support@bcnavigator.app and include your BC Navigator version (visible in chrome://extensions) and a description of the issue.

FAQ

After 14 days without a license, the extension shows an activation screen. Activate a Free license ($0, from bcnavigator.app/pro) to continue with all features for personal use, or a Pro license for commercial use and unlimited activations. Your navigation history and settings are preserved.
Purchase a Pro license at bcnavigator.app/pro, then open Options → License and enter the new Pro key. Your old Free key is automatically deactivated — no manual steps required. The tenant binding transfers to the new key.
Yes. One Pro license covers your entire BC tenant — all employees activate with the same key, with no activation limit. Free licenses allow up to 5 activations total across all devices.
The tenant binding ties your license key to your company's BC domain (e.g. yourcompany.com) on first activation. This prevents license sharing between unrelated organizations. The binding covers all subdomains and BC environments at that domain, so PROD, TEST, and DEV instances all work with one key.
Yes. Enter your on-premises Base URL in Options → Connection, for example https://bc.yourcompany.com/BC/. The extension works identically for on-prem and SaaS BC.
No. History is stored locally on each device (not synced) for privacy. Settings and prefix mappings sync across devices via Chrome's built-in sync storage.
The banner only appears for Pro license holders (not trial or free). Also, remote config is cached for up to 4 hours — reload Options after a short wait and the banner should appear. If not, contact your admin to verify the config was pushed successfully.
